RunWV's Current Score: 22 of 30.

3200 Meter Run
This will be one of the more talked about races of the weekend. Winfield's Zac Noel used a 60.5 second final lap to go from 3rd to 1st only to be disqualified for cutting off Weir's Stewart Jones in the final turn. I can't comment on the disqualification because I didn't see the incident happen. I was looking at the finish line area writing down times for people finishing their 7th lap when I heard the crowd go nuts. When I looked into the turn Noel was already a couple strides ahead. Berkeley Springs' Lenny Roach took the field out hard, covering the first lap in 1:04, followed closely by Oak Glen's Brian Wilson. Roach maintained the lead through lap two and three, and stretched the lead to five seconds at the mile mark, covering the opening mile in 4:49. The five second gap was maintained through lap five. On lap 6, Weir's Stewart Jones pulled withing a second of Roach, with Noel another 2 seconds back. The end of lap seven saw Roach and Jones running even with Noel three seconds back. Noel made his final move over the last 200 meters to cross the line in first, followed closely by Jones and then Roach, with each of the three crossing in less than 9:47. Noel's disqualification (again I can neither agree nor disagree with this because I didn't see it) left Jones with the 1st position and Roach with the 2nd position. No one else ran under 10:00. Webster's Skylar McCoy ran a very disciplined race and moved from 7th after 5 laps into 3rd at the finish. Ravenswood's Ben Wise claimed 4th. Ravenswood's Nathan Rees scored a fifth for Ravenswood, and Roane's Randy Price was the final beneficiary of Noel's DQ.
RunWV's Current Score: 26 of 36.

400 Meter Dash
Ravenswood's Ben Miller again took the 400, this year going under 50 seconds in the process. His time of 49.81 is the 3rd Best Class AA Time this decade. Philip Barbour's Jaron Freeman was the only one even close to him. Freeman was over a second ahead of the rest of the field. Weir's Josh Webb pulled into the 3rd position, just ahead of Sissonville's William Hart. Liberty Harrison's Josh Gray snagged 5th from the first heat, just 0.01 ahead of Shady Spring's Dustin Syvertson.
RunWV's Current Score: 30 of 42.

1600 Meter Run
Winfield's Zac Noel shed his disappointment from the 3200 and again used his strong finish to win the 1600. The final lap started with 4 runners crossing in 3:28 and three others in 3:29. Coming to the last 400 meters, the front four all still had a chance for the win, but Noel was able to put the race away. Berkeley Spring's Lenny Roach and Ravenswood's Ben Wise each used one final push to get past Weir's Stewart Jones as the front four all finished within 2 seconds, with 2nd through 4th separated by only 0.8 seconds. Liberty Harrison's Josh Gray edged Ravenswood's Kurt Gray for 5th by just over 0.5 seconds. The six placers finished approximately 9 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
RunWV's Current Score: 35 of 48.

300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles
Lincoln's Eli Cottrill defended his title in exciting fashion. With the race well in hand, he unexpectedly slowed dramatically approaching the final hurdle. Just as it looked like Frankfort's Travis Corwell would steal the title, he stumbled a bit off the final hurdle. Cottrill took the win by just 0.01. Cottrill's time of 39.14 is the 9th Best All-Time State Meet Performance in Class A-AA. Corwell's 39.15 will be tied for the 10th Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. Their times will also be the 3rd and 4th best Class AA marks this decade. No one else was within a second of the dueling pair. Berkeley Springs' Brian Ness snared the 3rd position. Winfield's Caleb Martin edged Berkeley Springs' Paul Truitt for 4th. Ritchie's Alan Snodgrass took home the final point.
RunWV's Current Score: 39 of 54.

Sissonville's Eric Myers again dominated the competition but again came up just short of the meet record, missing this one by just 8 inches. His best throw was over 21 feet further than anyone else. His throw of 169'3 is the 9th Best All-Time State Meet Performance Regardless of Class and the 2nd Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best Class AA Performance this decade. Independence's Josh May was over 8 feet ahead of the rest of the field and was the only other thrower over 140'. Independence's Chris May took third by 3 inches over Winfield's Jared White who had a season best throw by 24 feet to pull off a major surprise. Oak Glen's A.J. Glass, Liberty Raleigh's Dominick Cangemi, and Point Pleasant's Tyler Grant had matching best throws, but Glass took the fifth place position and Cangemi took 6th based on a better 2nd best throws.
